We talk about how many people train individual styles like Karate or Wing Chun in isolation, without incorporating grappling or other complementary techniques. Erik Paulson explains his own approach, which involves training boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai clinch work, wrestling and dirty boxing clinch work, trips and takedowns from various styles, ground and pound, and submission fighting. The key is to break down the different elements and then put them back together through MMA-style training rounds.
